Results/Scores

St Louis Competition: The annual St Louis shoot was held this year on 18 October, while the BSV was also hosting the Open House event in Chicago, proving to be a very busy weekend for the club, We are waiting for St Louis to publish the formal results of the shoot at the time of this writing, and will post them when we receive them. In the meantime, thanks to all the members who took the time to attend the last scheduled trip of 2026.

St Louis away team, L-R, Norm, Jon, Toby, Queen Dahra, King Matt, Nancy, Larry and Gale

Thank you: As the year comes to a close the club would like to congratulate every BSV club member, spouse, child and niece who attended one or more of this year’s, away competitive matches. Although being a club member does not obligate you to travel on behalf of the club, many of you do and represent us at the various Schuetzenverein matches during the year. So, whether you visited Columbus, Peoria, Omaha, or St Louis in 2025, thank you and well done.

2025 Club Championship Results: Once again, the second of our two, annual, internal club competitions was held this October. If you have been following the club’s competitive results recently you already know that as a group, scores are up and we are shooting better every week, but more on that below, first the scores for you to enjoy, click here: https://bsv-chicago.org/wp-content/uploads/2025/11/2025-clubchampionship.pdf.

2025 Club Championship First Place Results-Summary: Mens Rifle, Freestanding-Edgar Rojas (302.6), Auflage-John Fuller (382.8), Seniorenklasse-Larry Bochenko (385) & Pistol-Larry Bochenko (152). Women’s Rifle, Freestanding-Brittany Bochenko (266.9), Auflage-Susanne Mickey (374), Seniorenklasse-Martha Koelle (305.1) & Pistol-Brittany Bochenko (154.1). Congratulations to all the winners.

The sharp-eyed observer may have noted that most of these scores feature a decimal point in them, which is because the club recently purchased and is using the automatic Orion Scoring System, which affords a much more accurate score than the human eye alone. Some of the scores were so close that it is fortunate that we elected to make the investment in Orion, which should hopefully avoid the possibility of any ties in the future. Men’s Pistol, underscores this point…

Men’s Pistol, First Place through Fourth Place scores: Larry Bochenko, 152.2, Jordan Martin, 151.2, Edgar Rojas, 151.1, and Tobias Dold, 149.2. The top four finishers were all within 3 points of one another which serves as another testament to the level of competition in the club right now.

Overall, scores in almost every category are up again, even from just this Springs St Hubertus Club Match.

While it isn’t that unusual to have one, or even occasionally more, of our competitors take first in more than one category, z.B. both Edgar and Susanne did it this past Spring, it is rare when we have two and they are also family members. Larry Bochenko (Senior Class-Rifle & Pistol) and daughter Brittany (Free Standing-Rifle & Pistol) both took first place this year in two categories. Further, Larry’s score of 385 was almost three points higher than the next highest Rifle score, of any category. Well done to Larry and Britt.

Competition was also close in both the Men’s 55+ Rifle category, with less than two points separating first from second place 382.8-381.0 and in Free Standing Rifle with Edgar holding on to his title with a 302.6 closely trailed by reigning King, Matt Hoppe. While Susanne Mickey also held onto her Women’s Rifle title, Martha Koelle secured her first, first place-in Senior Rifle.

Perhaps most amazing of all was Jason Vogler’s 90 in pistol (Pictured Below). Unfortunately, Jason was unable to complete in a second week of competition-necessary to qualify, because of his Military Service-Thank you Jason, and well done. Congrats to all, and if there is anything to complain about it is that we have a large number of members who elect not to compete, which is a real shame, please consider doing so next year.

Jason shoots a 90 during the 2025 Club Championship

2025 Omaha Inaugural Shoot: The Club in Omaha held their first invitation shoot on 16 Aug 2025, and it was a great success, they should be justifiably proud. Scores are below and although we don’t have a lot to brag about, congrats go out to newest club member, Doug Des Camps, for turning in the BSV’s best pistol score on his very first away trip-way to go Doug! Scores Below.

2025 BSV Travelling Team in Peoria

2025 Peoria Away Shoot: The Club made its way down to Peoria again this year on June 28th to say farewell to Peoria’s Lindenhof grounds. We would like to thank Peoria for their many years of hospitality at the Lindenhof and wish them the very best as they move into their new home. While it was another well attended trip, the results were not as well as we could have hoped, and Peoria managed to retain possession of the Wanderpokal again. But being the BSV, we had fun, and one bright spot was that Edgar managed to secure Bronze in the overall, tournament scoring-well done Edgar!

Link to the Peoria Scores are here: https://www.orionresults.com/team/EventResult.aspx?MatchID=1.2291.2025062518451443.0&SubKey=115008

The Schiesswart would also like to note that We had three participants in the Novice class this year in Peoria, Olivia Parenteau (Dahra’s niece), June Bochenko, and Nancy Fabisch.  One medal was awarded, for first place, her third medal in three years.

2025 St Sebastian Results are in. Congrats to all of our winners, but particularly to Susanne Mickey, and Edgar Rojas who took first in two different categories each. The results were very, very close in nearly every category, and it will be interesting to see who will emerge first this fall in the Club Championship.

2025 St Sebastian Result Summary: Mens Rifle, Freestanding-Edgar Rojas (321), Auflage-John Fuller (377), Seniorenklasse-Larry Bochenko (358) & Pistol-Edgar Rojas (155). Women’s Rifle, Freestanding-Brittany Bochenko (217), Auflage-Susanne Mickey (361), Seniorenklasse-Nancy Fabisch (316) & Pistol-Susanne Mickey (145). Thanks to everyone for competing.

2025 Columbus Results, our first away competition of the year; we travelled to Ohio in May and visited the awesome Columbus club at their beautiful clubhouse. They ran a a truly wonderful event and we all had a great time. For a variety of reasons our squad wasn’t quite as deep as we would have liked, leading to some interesting findings-more on that, but first, the scores

A quick recap of the top four team point earners. Peoria-2777.8, Columbus-2495.2, Cincinnati -2050.2, BSV-Chicago-1923.3. A review of these reveals that we finished in fourth place overall, approximately 127 points behind third place Cincinnati, and 571 points behind second place Columbus.

BSV Club individual category leaders. Rifle Free Hand, Edgar Rojas 152.6. Rifle Auflage, John Fuller 180.6 and Pistol, Brittany Bochenko 158.6. Her Targets are Below

But a closer look at these scores reveals something very interesting. Of the 18 available scoring slots for each team, (6 each in Freehand Rifle, Rested Rifle and Pistol), the BSV was unable to compete in four of them because of a lack of competitors, unfortunately therefore drawing zeroes in each of those four categories, or in other words, we were unable to compete for 22% of the available points. In fairness, Cincinnati was unable to compete in two categories themselves, but as we finished a mere 127 points behind them anyway, so we would have passed them regardless had both teams been at full strength.

Brittany getting it done in Columbus, in 2025, well done. We all keep shooting better and better

A conservative estimate of the points we would have earned had we been able to bring a full team to this competition puts us at between 500-600 additional points, or a final score of 2, 423-2, 523. Contrast that to second place, host Columbus, who were naturally able to field a full squad, and their total of 2495.2. It is very easy to imagine that a complete BSV squad could have finished in second place this year behind a truly unbeatable first place Peoria.

What does this mean? As has been discussed, the club becomes more and more competitive with every passing week, even if it might not feel that way. Keep up the good work, practice as much as you can and try to make it to the out of town meets if you possibly can, not only are they fun but they give gives us a chance to show off what we have been accomplishing.

KING and QUEEN Ball: At this years (2025) King and Queen Ball, held April 5, the BSV hosted a record number 7 visiting teams at our early Saturday morning competition. We thank them all for coming and hope to see everyone back next year. Below are the results of this year’s Wettschiessen

Particular congratulations have to go to the BSV’s John Casillas on his fine performance in capturing medals in two of the three individual categories at the 2025 Shoot-John, as always, well done. As the results above show, the gap between taking first and finishing in second place this year were exceeding slim, with a margin of difference of only about 2 percent. Unfortunately for the BSV we took second as Peoria managed to retain the Wanderpokal by the slimmest of margins. Wait until next year….

Toby previews the K&Q shoot Adler.

The 2025 King and Queen Shoot was a lot of fun again this year with approximately 25 members competing with one another for awards in shooting our Eagle, hand painted for us by our reigning King, Tobias. See the winners below.

2024 St Louis BSV Team Results: While we wait for St Louis to post the official numbers we do know that the squad finished a somewhat disappointing fifth overall. However, everyone had a good time and we look forward to doing better next year. Thanks to all who represented us this October 1. St Louis 2. Columbus 3. Peoria 4. Cincinnati 5. Chicago 6. Omaha

An All BSV-Chicago Relay Competing in St Louis-2024

2024 Peoria-Andreas Hofer Wettschiessen BSV Team Results: The BSV enjoyed another fantastic trip to Peoria as we finished closely behind second place St Louis. 1st place Peoria succeeded in retaining the Wanderpokal another year but we had plenty to cheer about as June Bochenko claimed first place in the novice division and husband Larry took bronze in the speed shooting contest held at Ross’s house (thanks Ross)! John Casillas lead the 13 member strong BSV team with 422 total points while Larry Bochenko and John Fuller rounded out the top three. A very special thanks to first time away participants, June, Anne, Geoff and Lisa. Link to Results below.
