9/25: Calendar Change regarding the Club Championship. Due to a scheduling conflict, the Schiesswart has determined that the best dates for the Club Championship will now be Oktober 1, Oktober 8, and Oktober 15 even though our calendar has the first date for the annual Club Championship on September 24. Please note the change.

7/25: Doner Kebaps. They may sell billions a year in Germany, but finding a quality Doner Kebap in the States is still a real challenge. If you find yourself in the western suburbs you must try Berliner Kebap, a small family run business-they are from Berlin in fact-that is making Kebaps as they are in Germany. 6/25: Additional Information regarding Omaha’s inaugural Event: The event will take place on August 16, 2025.  Everyone is invited to Keller night Friday night August 15, 2025 starting at 5:00pm at the German American Society.  Please come out and enjoy good food and beer.   You can also sign up early for the competition on Saturday.  

Doors will open at 8:00 am on the Saturday August 16th with shooting starting at 9:00 am.  Here are the shooting disciplines. Off hand, with rest if over 55 yeas old and pistol.  There will be no novice shoot.   You can shoot all disciplines if you want.  Pellets will be available, or you can use your own pellets. There will be a Brotzeit in the morning

Starting at 5:00 pm with the cocktail hour followed by a buffet meal, you will have your choice of one main item which will be Stuffed Pork Chop, Chicken Masala, or a Vegetarian dish.  Beer and wine will be included. There will be a cash bar if you would like a mixed drink.  After the meal is over there will be a flag parade and presentation of the awards.  The cost for the Saturday event is $50.00.  Please make checks out to Schutzenverein. And mail to Allen Krabbenhoft 5071 South 134th Street, Omaha, Ne 68137-1653 by July 10, 2025.

6/20: The Fest ticket counting that took place last night at the Niedersachsen went very well with the counting itself being done in about two and a half hours, thanks to all of the club members who attended and helped do the tally. Edgar, Dahra, Chuck, Ann, Mike, Diane, Melissa, Matt and Dan Mickey pitched in to help make light work of it, Many Thanks!

5/30: Pieptone continues to entertain the Northside, they will be appearing in June at the monthly DANK Stammtisch-Flyer Below

5/10: For anyone attending the Ohio Regional Shoot this month, there will be a race the same morning as the shoot that could impact your travel times, depending on where you are coming from. The race steps off at 0845 and I have included the event map below to assist you.

4/30: The growing international appeal of the BSV has now become undeniable as Kamila escorts visitors to the club from Paris, France as well as the Czech Republic. All are welcome here! Thanks for visiting guys.

4/26: Our New King (below) carries the honor of the BSV alone upon his shoulders at the recent Roselle, Illinois, Bockfest. He reports that it was an excellent time and hopefully we can join him there in 2026. Thanks, Matt

4/1: We were proud to learn that friend of the BSV, and long time member of Paloma, Arthur Heppner has just become the King of the Cape Coral Schuetzenverein (See Link Page). We wish Art a successful reign as well as looking forward to an official ‘state visit’ with him here in Chicago in the coming months. Well Done Art!

3/25: Its Baaaaaaaack, for 2025. Maifest is officially returning to Lincoln Square this year and while the details aren’t written in stone, the dates are, 29 May-1 June. We will be partnering with Niedersachsen again this year, Toll!

3/25: We have been invited to attend and march in the parade at the 4th Annual Bockfest in Roselle, Illinois. It will be held on Saturday, April 26 from Noon – 11:00 PM at the Pollyanna Brewing Company in Roselle, IL.  Anyone interested in participating should get a hold of John at their earliest convenience. Happy New Year to you all and an erfolgreich 2025. We are considering authorizing a seniority award for uniform wear representing 5-10-15-20 etc year increments of membership, if there is enough interest. The award would be authorized but optional and would be available for purchase for about 20.00. Please see John if you would be interested in ordering one.

BSV-Chicago Members, Jason and Monte closed out 2024 with a trip to both Germany and Austria. While there, Monte took the time to check in on the Vienna Chapter of the BSV, visiting with our overseas members. Gut Schuss to all and we can’t wait to see you all again.

New York Schuetzenverein: In November 2024 we received a telephone call from Matt, a member of the Brooklyn Schuetzencorp from Queens/Long Island New York; his organization, http://www.brooklynschuetzencorps.com/ is a Schuetzenverein that was established in the 1850’s that remains active today. The Brooklyn Schuetzencorp is part of an even larger German Cultural Facility, aka Plattdeutsche Park, that you can visit online here. https://www.parkrestaurant.com/about-plattduetsche-park/ We intend on extending an invitation for them to visit us in the near future and Matt has already expressed an interest in having us up for von Steuben in New York in September 2025. Musical News: BSV Member John McLaughlin and his partner Sherri, from their band Pieptone (See our Links Page) have teamed up as a duet called “Cocktail-Stunde” We recently caught them at the Niedersachsen Club and they were great!

More Good News from the Membership-31 Mar 2024: While most of you are aware that we are awaiting the birth of Andreas and Sabinas first child in Wien (See Kamila to get in on the gender pool), I heard from Jade this week and she announced her engagement to fellow club member Ben. Congratulations you two and come see us soon, we miss you.

King & Queen Ball Weekend-Fussball Watch Party at Niedersacsen

Bockfest in Roselle: A great event now entering its third year. For 2024 the BSV has been invited to join the party and march in the grand parade at noon on April 27th. Lets get a group together and fly our BSV colors before enjoying a great time, that is also family friendly too.

Valentine Days Marksmanship Meeting: And you thought the BSV wasn’t romantic. A big thanks to Ann and Susanna for organizing, and picking up the prizes for the ‘couples’ shoot. Wie immer, gut gemacht.

Maskenball at DANK Haus-10 Feb 24: The BSV again had a table this year at Rheinischer Vereins annual Karneval masquerade party. As always a great time was had and we even had members win some prize money for best costumes!

King and Queen Shoot-24 Jan 24: We had a fantastic night, and congratulations to all of the winners, especially our King and Queen elect, Tobias and Brittany. We had 26 club members participate in the competition this year which we were able to conclude in a reasonable 4 hours, or so. Special Mentions go out to Eric W (Right Wing), Anne M (Left Wing), Gale F (Right Claw) and Katie W (Left Claw). Nice job everyone and thanks to all who brought snacks.

DANK Auction Event-8 Dec 2023: As mentioned elsewhere on this site, the BSV has had the privilege of helping the DANK Haus by becoming one of the most popular prizes offered during their annual fund raiser auction. This year our Schiesswart-Gale, and a group of a dozen BSV volunteers (thanks to each of you!), hosted a “Night with the BSV” in the Brauhaus Room. It was an unqualified success thanks to all of our volunteers help. Gut gemacht everyone.

Open Haus Chicago-October 14 & 15 2023: The annual Chicago Architectural Tour has concluded and once again the BSV was a huge hit. Maifest Volunteers Party: So you answered the call and helped the club during Maifest? Well, as a partial thank you for setting up/taking down, cleaning, grilling, serving beer and food or any of the other things it takes to put on a Fest, we would like to reward you with a party, Saturday, 17 June 2023, between 3:00 and 7:00, to be had with our fellow Fest partners, the Niedersachsen Club, located at 4548 N. 1st Vice Presidency Vacancy Announced-21-Apr-23: For those unable to attend the regularly scheduled monthly meeting on 19 April 2023, know that our 1st Vice President, Jason Vogler is stepping away from his role as VP at this time. As a result, the Board is seeking candidates and recommendations for his replacement prior to appointing a new VP at the May meeting, to serve out the remainder of the current term.
